HADLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Nicole Hilton of the Wesleyan University volleyball team was named the NESCAC Co-Player of the Week for her stellar performance in three matches, including two against nationally-ranked top-25 teams. Hilton averaged 2.91 kills per set with a .410 hitting percentage and was a force at net as well, averaging 0.91 blocks per set. She was joined by Caroline Flaharty of Bowdoin.
In the Cardinals' first match of the week, against then-No. 14 Johnson & Wales, the sophomore outside hitter totaled 13 kills with a .478 attack mark. In Wesleyan's win over Susquehanna, she registered 12 kills with just two errors on 19 attempts for a .526 hitting percentage, while also recording five blocks.
Hilton has played an integral role in the Cardinals' success thus far this season, in which they boast a 17-4 overall record and 7-1 NESCAC mark. She currently ranks second in the conference and 31st in the country in hitting percentage with a .340 clip, and is second on the team in kills with 2.58 per set.
Wesleyan wraps up the regular season this weekend with back-to-back matches against two of the top teams in the NESCAC, Bowdoin (Oct. 27) and Tufts (Oct. 28). The Cardinals will host the Polar Bears on Friday at 8 p.m. and the Jumbos Saturday at 1 p.m.
