HADLEY, Mass. – Nicole Hilton '20 of the Wesleyan University volleyball team earned her second NESCAC Player of the Week honor this season as she helped guide the Cardinals to their first conference championship in program history. Wesleyan, seeded No. 2 in the tournament, defeated No. 7 Williams (3-0), No. 3 Bowdoin (3-1), and No. 1 Tufts (3-1) in three-straight days, respectively.
Hilton was phenomenal throughout the weekend and totaled at least 13 kills in each match. She averaged 3.64 kills per set with a .353 hitting percentage. In the 3-0 sweep against the Ephs, Hilton totaled 14 kills and posted a .545 attack clip. The following day in the semifinals, she tallied 13 kills and three blocks, and added a 13-kill performance with a .310 hitting percentage in the finals.
The sophomore outside hitter from Wantagh, N.Y. has been terrific all year and has been a crucial piece to the team's historic season. She currently leads the NESCAC and ranks 22nd in the country in hitting percentage with a .345 mark. Hilton also ranks 10th in the conference in blocks per set (0.78) and 13th in kills per set (2.78).
Wesleyan earned the automatic qualifying berth from the NESCAC and will play Wellesley College in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. on the campus of Johnson & Wales.
