  • Volleyball's Historic Season Ends in Elite Eight Thriller as No. 6 Juniata Wins, 3-2

    The greatest season in Wesleyan University volleyball history came to an end Thursday night despite a valiant effort by the Cardinals as No. 6 Juniata rallied to win 3-2 by scores of 20-25, 25-13, 18-25, 25-22, and 15-12 in the Elite Eight of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships at the A.J. Palumbo Center on the campus of Duquesne University.
  • Bellizzi Named All-American, Muraoka-Robertson Earns Honorable Mention

    Phia Bellizzi and Kaira Muraoka-Robertson of the Wesleyan University volleyball team were honored once again by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Tuesday as Bellizzi earned Third Team All-America laurels and Muraoka-Robertson was named an All-American Honorable Mention. 
  • Wesleyan Volleyball Heads to Pittsburgh for NCAA Championships

    For the first time in program history, the Wesleyan University volleyball team has advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III Championships. The Cardinals won the Providence Regional by defeating No. 2 Johnson & Wales, 3-1, in which they snapped the Wildcats’ 33-match win streak. The final eight teams remaining in the tournament were reseeded and Wesleyan (20-5) secured the No. 7 seed. The Cardinals will continue their quest for a national title on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. against seconded-seeded Juniata (27-3) in the A.J. Palumbo Center on the campus of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa. Saint Vincent College and Sports PITTSBURGH will serve as tournament hosts.
  • Four Cardinals Earn AVCA All-Region Honors

    Junior setter Kaira Muraoka-Robertson and sophomore libero Phia Bellizzi of the Wesleyan University volleyball team were named to the 2018 Division III All-Northeast Region Team, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Additionally, Nicole Hilton and Stasie Litinsky earned Honorable Mention.
  • Wesleyan Advances to Elite Eight! Cardinals Upset No. 2 Johnson & Wales, 3-1

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team upset No. 2 Johnson & Wales in the Providence regional final on Sunday at the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships, 3-1. The Cardinals (20-5) advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in program history as they snapped the Wildcats’ 33-match win streak. The lost is Johnson & Wales’ (33-2) first since the season-opener.
  • Volleyball Sweeps Springfield! Advances to NCAA Regional Finals

    For the first time in program history, the Wesleyan University volleyball team has advanced to the regional finals of the NCAA Division III Championships as the Cardinals swept Springfield College on Saturday afternoon, 3-0. Wesleyan (19-5) defeated the Pride (24-8) by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-15 and will face the winner of No. 2 Johnson & Wales vs. New Paltz tomorrow at 2 p.m. for a chance to reach the NCAA quarterfinals. 
  • Wesleyan Advances! Cardinals Defeat Kean, 3-1

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team hit .290 with 55 kills to defeat Kean University 3-1, in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships on Friday afternoon on the campus of Johnson & Wales. The Cardinals won by scores of 25-14, 25-9, 23-25, and 25-20 to reach the Regional Semifinals for the second year in a row.
  • Bellizzi and Hogan Named to All-NESCAC Teams

    Sophomore defensive specialist Phia Bellizzi and junior outside hitter Mia Hogan of the Wesleyan University volleyball team have been named to 2018 All-NESCAC Teams, as voted on by the league coaches and announced Wednesday by the conference office. Bellizzi was named a First Team selection and Hogan garnered Second Team laurels.
  • Volleyball Earns NCAA At-Large Berth

    For the second year in a row, the Wesleyan University volleyball team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships as the Cardinals (17-5) earned an at-large bid to the national postseason tournament and will face Kean College (19-15) on Friday, Nov. 9 at 12:30 p.m. Johnson & Wales (Providence) will serve as the regional host.
  • Volleyball Falls to Amherst in NESCAC Semifinals, 3-0

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team saw its title defense come to an end Saturday as the seconded-seeded Cardinals were upset by third-seeded Amherst College in the NESCAC Semifinals at Bowdoin, 3-0. The Mammoths (22-4) won by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-22.
  • No. 2 Wesleyan Sweeps No. 7 Bates in NESCAC Quarterfinals

    Mia Hogan led all players with 12 kills and Nicole Hilton added eight with a .412 hitting percentage as second-seeded Wesleyan – the defending NESCAC Champions – swept seventh-seeded Bates College in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament Friday night by scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-20.
  • Wesleyan Looks to Defend NESCAC Title this Weekend

    For the second year in a row, the Wesleyan University volleyball team secured the No. 2 seed at the NESCAC Tournament as the Cardinals posted a 9-1 conference record during the regular season. The nine wins tie the program record that was set in 2001. Wesleyan, the defending NESCAC Champion, begins its title defense on Friday, Nov. 2 against seventh-seeded Bates (14-8, 4-6 NESCAC). The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and will be played at the host institution, top-seeded Bowdoin (24-1, 10-0 NESCAC).

    Trailing 2-0, the Wesleyan University volleyball team rallied to defeat Tufts in its 2018 regular-season finale, 3-2 in Cousens Gym on Saturday afternoon.
  • Volleyball Falls Short in NESCAC Thriller at Bowdoin, 3-1

    In a thrilling matchup that featured two undefeated NESCAC teams, Bowdoin College prevailed over the Wesleyan University volleyball team, 3-1. Friday night’s match in Morrell Gymnasium lived up to the hype but the Cardinals came up just short despite a valiant effort. With the win, the Polar Bears (23-1, 9-0) earned hosting duties at next weekend’s NESCAC Tournament. The Cardinals (15-4, 8-1) secured the No. 2 seed.
  • Volleyball Splits Non-Conference Doubleheader

    Wesleyan volleyball split its non-conference doubleheader on Saturday at Susquehanna, as the Cardinals lost 3-0 to the host school in their first match before recovering against Swarthmore with a 3-1 victory. Wesleyan is now 15-3 overall on the year.

    Maddie Kurke ’22 totaled a career-high 19 kills on Saturday afternoon to help lead the Wesleyan University volleyball team to a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Bates College. The Cardinals dropped the first set, 25-21, but rallied with wins of 25-6, 25-21, 25-22 en route to a thrilling NESCAC win in their final home match of the regular season.
  • Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Sweep Over Colby on Senior Night

    Senior co-captains Madeleine Lundberg and Emma Robin of the Wesleyan University volleyball team celebrated a 3-0 sweep over Colby College Friday on Senior Night as the Cardinals improve to 12-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 in NESCAC play. Following the loss, the Mules drop to 5-11, 0-7.
  • Volleyball Triumphs Over Middlebury in Four-Set Win

    The Wesleyan volleyball team (11-2, 6-0) snapped Middlebury’s seven-match win streak en route to a four-set win (25,22, 25-19, 25-27, 25-18) on Saturday.
  • LITTLE THREE CHAMPS! Volleyball Defeats Amherst, Falls to Endicott

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team won its second consecutive Little Three Championship today following a 3-0 sweep over archrival Amherst College on the road. The Cardinals (10-2) remain perfect in NESCAC play with a 5-0 mark. Shortly after, they saw their 10-match win streak come to an end as they fell to non-conference foe Endicott College, 3-1.
  • Win Streak Extends to Nine for Wesleyan Volleyball as Cardinals Defeat Trinity, 3-1

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team defeated in-state NESCAC rival Trinity College on the road Friday night, 3-1. With the win, the Cardinals (9-1, 4-0 NESCAC) extend their win streak to nine, while the Bantams (7-4, 0-3) remain winless in league play. Juniors Mia Hogan and Stasie Litinsky led the team with 15 and 14 kills, respectively, while classmate Kaira Muraoka-Robertson dished out 38 assists and totaled 14 digs.
  • Wesleyan Sweeps Westfield State for Eighth Straight Win

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team swept Westfield State at home, 3-0 on Thursday night to improve to 8-1. The Cardinals won every set by a score of 25-12 for their eighth straight victory while snapping the Owls win streak of three as they fall to 3-13 on the year.

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team defeated the University of Scranton, 3-1, on Saturday at the Johnson and Wales Invitational in the Wildcat Center. The Cardinals dropped the first set 25-22 but came back strong, winning three straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-16, and 25-17.

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Hamilton College Saturday afternoon in Silloway Gymnasium by scores of 25-14, 25-10, 25-21. It was the Cardinals fourth-consecutive victory as they improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NESCAC. The Continentals are now 2-4, 0-2.
  • Volleyball Rallies to Defeat Little Three Rival Williams in Home-Opener, 3-1

    After dropping its first set, the Wesleyan University volleyball team rallied for three consecutive wins to defeat Little Three archrival Williams College in a thriller Friday night in the Cardinals’ home-opener, 3-1. Freshman Mia Jago shined in her Silloway Gymnasium debut as she finished with 11 kills and an incredible .611 hitting percentage.
  • Cardinals Sweep Doubleheader Over Susquehanna (3-2) and SUNY Geneseo (3-0)

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team recovered from a season-opening loss last night to No. 7 Ithaca by following up with back-to-back non-conference wins on Saturday over Susquehanna (3-2) and SUNY Geneseo (3-0), respectively. The Cardinals conclude the 2018 South Hill Classic, hosted by Ithaca, with a 2-1 record.

    The Wesleyan University volleyball team opened its 2018 season with a difficult non-conference matchup against No. 7 Ithaca on Friday night, and were swept 3-0 by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-19. The Bombers (3-1) reached the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Championships a year ago.
