  • Wesleyan Wraps Up 2019 With 3-1 Triumph Over Albertus Magnus

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men’s hockey team (4-3-0) used a pair of first period goals to propel them past Albertus Magnus 3-1 on Friday evening. The contest was the final game of the 2019 season for the Cardinals, while the Falcons (0-8-2) wrap up first-semester play on Saturday.

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams hosted in-state NESCAC rival Connecticut College on Friday night in its season and home opener. The meet did not have team scoring, and only featured a selection of track events.

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s hockey team (3-3) dropped a non-conference bout 5-2 to Saint Anselm on Friday evening. The loss snapped the Cardinals three-game win streak, while the Hawks (10-3) tallied their seventh-straight victory.
  • Walker Drops 24 as Wesleyan Defeats Manhattanville, 73-56

    Antone Walker dropped 24 points on 6-of-9 shooting while also dishing out six assists to help lead the Wesleyan men’s basketball team to a 73-56 win on the road Tuesday night against Manhattanville.
  • Julia Meehan Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Julia Meehan of the Wesleyan women’s soccer team has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team as announced by the organization on Tuesday. The teams are selected by CoSIDA and recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. All of the All-America selections advanced to the ballot after earning All-District First Team honors.  
  • Olivia Baglieri Earns All-Region Honors

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Sophomore Olivia Baglieri of the Wesleyan field hockey team was named to the 2019 Longstreath/NFHCA Division III New England West Second Team as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Tuesday morning. This year, 197 Division III student-athletes were named to All-Region teams. Each of the five regions honors at least 16 student-athletes on the first team and at least 16 student-athletes on the second team with the region’s team size contingent on the number of institutions in the region.
  • Wesleyan Defeated by Williams, 68-49

    The Wesleyan women’s basketball team lost to Little Three rival Williams on Tuesday night at Silloway Gymnasium, 68-49. With the loss, the Cardinals are now 6-2 on the season while the Ephs improve to 6-0.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Academic & All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan University fall athletic teams put a total of 60 student-athletes on the 2019 NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team, while seven earned a spot on the 2019 NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Middlebury ranked first in the conference with 98 student-athletes on the All-Academic list, while Williams was second with 84 and Bowdoin was third with 74. Wesleyan ranked sixth out of the 11 schools with its 60 honorees.
  • Strong Start Lifts Cardinals Past Rams 3-1

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s hockey team (3-2-0) scored three times in the opening frame, lifting the Cardinals past Suffolk 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, Wesleyan extends its win streak to three, including a two-game sweep over the Rams (2-7-2). 
  • Third Period Burst Propels Wesleyan Past Potsdam 6-2

    MANCHESTER, N.H. – Knotted at 2-2 heading into the third period, the Wesleyan men’s hockey team (3-2-0) scored four unanswered goals to top Potsdam 6-2 in the Saint Anselm Thanksgiving Tournament on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 3-3-0, while the Bears fall to 1-8-1. Wesleyan was led by Spencer Fox’s pair of third-period goals, a tally and an assist from Tyler Levine and three helpers from Walker Harris. 
  • Wesleyan Falls in Overtime to New York University, 93-91

    Caleigh Ryan scored a team-high 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting but the Wesleyan women’s basketball team lost an overtime thriller on Sunday afternoon to New York University, 93-91.

    Due to the winter storm watch in Connecticut today, the Wesleyan men’s basketball game against Union College has been postponed while the women’s basketball game against New York University has been moved up to 2:30 p.m. The women’s hockey game against Suffolk is still scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
  • Cardinals Cruise Past Suffolk 5-1

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Wesleyan women’s hockey team cruised to a 5-1 victory at Suffolk on Saturday evening. The meeting was the first between the Cardinals and the Rams, as the two teams will play again tomorrow. With the victory, Wesleyan improves to 2-2-0, while Suffolk falls to 2-6-2.

    MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Wesleyan men’s hockey team fell 7-1 to Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon in the Saint Anselm Thanksgiving Tournament. It was the 21st meeting between the two teams and first since 2010. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 2-3-0 overall, while the Hawks improve to 6-3-1.

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Senior goaltender Delaney Wood of the Wesleyan field hockey team concluded her career playing in the 2019 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division III Senior Game on Saturday at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Pennsylvania.
  • Wesleyan Edges Salve Regina in Home Opener

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s hockey team (1-2-0) edged Salve Regina 3-2 in its home opener on Tuesday evening. The Seahawks (1-6-0) scored twice in the third to cut the deficit to one, but Wesleyan was able to hang on to earn its first win of the season. It was the 14th meeting between the two teams, as the Cardinals extended their win streak to four-straight against the Seahawks to knot the series at seven victories apiece.

    Jordan James recorded a double-double with a career-high 28 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while blocking three shots, but the Wesleyan men’s basketball team lost to Eastern Connecticut State University on the road Tuesday night, 83-60.

    Senior co-captain Ben Thaw of the Wesleyan football team has been to the 2019 New England Football Writers College Division II/III All-New England Team following a stellar season for the Cardinals. He was just one of 29 players selected from 20 different teams, and one of three athletes from the NESCAC.

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's swimming and diving teams hosted Little Three rival Amherst in its home opener on Monday evening. The Cardinals suffered a 190-100 loss to No. 15 Amherst in the team's 43rd meeting.

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's swimming and diving teams hosted Little Three rival Amherst in its home opener on Monday evening. The No. 19 Mammoths topped the Cardinals 198-84 in the team's 106th meeting.
  • Caleigh Ryan Named NESCAC Player of the Week

    Sophomore guard Caleigh Ryan of the Wesleyan women’s basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week as announced today by the league office. Ryan averaged a double-double off 16.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game during a 3-0 week for the Cardinals.
  • Wesleyan Cruises Past Amherst 4-1

    CLINTON, N.Y. – The Wesleyan men’s hockey team (2-2-0, 2-2-0) avenged it’s 1-0 NESCAC Semifinal loss to Amherst from a year ago, cruising to a 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in the team’s 104th meeting. The four goals were the most either team has scored on each other since 2015 and the most the Cardinals have tallied against the Mammoths since 1998. Last year, the team’s battled in three very close contests as one meeting ended in a 1-1 draw, while the other two matchups saw a single one-goal victory for each team.   
  • Women’s Cross Country Competes at NCAA Championship

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 31 Wesleyan women’s cross country team capped off a historic season placing 23rd at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. This was the Cardinal’s fourth appearance and first since 2009 when the squad placed a program-best 14th. Wesleyan earned an at-large bid to the NCAA meet following one of its best performances at the NCAA New England Regional where the team placed sixth in a field of 54 teams. The Cardinals were one of 16 at-large squads selected in addition to the 16 automatic qualifiers (top-two teams from each of the eight regions). 
  • Tran Records Trio of First-Place Finishes in Dual Meet at Bates

    LEWISTON, Maine – The Wesleyan men’s swimming and diving team traveled to Bates for a dual meet on Saturday. The Cardinals were guided by first-year Eric Tran who recorded a trio of first-place finishes. The Bobcats won the meet 204-84.
  • Gibbs & Paglia Record First-Place Finishes Against No. 19 Bates

    LEWISTON, Maine – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team traveled to No. 19 Bates for a dual meet on Saturday. The Cardinals were led by first-place finishes from Mengmeng Gibbs and rookie Zoe Paglia.

    Emma Roush scored a game-high 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting from behind-the-arc to help lead the Wesleyan women’s basketball team to a 68-53 win over Emerson in the Championship Game of the Courtyard Tournament on Saturday.
