Devon Cooper Wins 1-Meter Diving Event as Wesleyan Swimming Battles Amherst

The Wesleyan Men's Swimming and Diving team matched up against Amherst Monday night. Highlights of the evening for Wesleyan include event winner, Devon Cooper in 1-meter diving (185.84) as well as Alexander Kapphahn's varsity record (54.55) in the 100 IM, taking down an existing 5 year old record (55.07) from Michael Bailey (2009).

Coach Solomon felt that certain individuals had break through performance based on their improvements even from 2 days ago when Wesleyan competed against Bates College.

Noah Hamlish is swimming faster in season than in any of his previous 3 swim seasons.  His 51.90 is 1.5 seconds faster than he has gone this season and is by far, the fastest unshaved & untapered 100 free of his collegiate career.  Noah followed that up on the the anchor leg of the 4x100 freestyle relay with a 100 free split of 50.72, over a full second faster than his previous best time this season.

In the men's 500 free, Zach Carfi dropped another 3 seconds in the 500 free with his 5:21.64 and put up a great 400 IM time (4:38.94) to show that he is on track for some great distance swimming times this season!!!

The Cardinals will take a break and regroup after the Thanksgiving Holiday as they prepare for their final two competitions of the Fall Semester on Dec. 5th (CT Cup) and Dec. 11th vs. Tufts and WPI.  Both meets are at home.
