NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women's squash team fell to No. 10 George Washington University Sunday at Mount Holyoke College, 8-1, on the final day of competition at the 2016 Pioneer Valley Invitational.
Following this weekend's action, the Cardinals are now 4-4 overall this season. With the win, the Colonials improve to 5-4 on the year.
Laila Samy '18 picked up Wesleyan's lone win from the No. 1 position. After dropping the first set to Anna Porras, 11-6, the sophomore retaliated with three consecutive wins by scores of 11-8, 11-4, 11-3.
The Cardinals return to the court Friday, Jan. 22 and will host Bowdoin College at 4 p.m.
