The Lead: The 24th-ranked Wesleyan University women's squash team earned a 6-3 win over
23rd-ranked St. Lawrence University in the Consolation Finals of the Walker Cup. The Walker Cup is the "C" Division of the College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals claimed victories in the No. 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 positions.
- Laila Samy '18 cruised to yet another 3-0 sweep at the top of the lineup as she defeated Jillian Baker by scores of 11-2, 11-8, 11-4
- Trailing 2-1 in the No. 4 spot, Josie Russ '20 rallied and edged out Alexandra Infante in a five-set thriller (8-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 16-14).
- Annie Ferreira '17 and Sherly Francois '20 each picked up 3-0 sweeps. Ferreira defeated Elizabeth Lasusa in the No. 5 spot by scores of 11-8, 11-5, 11-7, and Francois earned wins of 11-9, 11-6, 11-7 over Allie Brazo in the No. 7 position.
- Ali Imperiale '19 won a 3-2 thriller as she defeated Cristina De La Vega in the No. 6 spot, 11-6, 5-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-9.
- In the No. 9 position, Sarah Clothier '19 claimed another five-set win with a victory over Abigail Smith (8-11, 11-2, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8).
