Wesleyan Squash Defeated by Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Wesleyan squash teams competed at Franklin & Marshall College Wednesday night. The 28th-ranked men's team lost to the 12th-ranked Diplomats 9-0 while the 21st-ranked women's squash team lost to 18th-ranked Franklin & Marshall 7-2.

The Wesleyan men are now 3-5 on the season and the women are 6-4. Franklin & Marshall's men are 9-3 following the win and the women improved to 6-2.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The Diplomats swept all nine courts.
  • Brinton Thomas had the strongest performance for the Cardinals as he forced extra points in the second set but would fall by scores of 11-7, 12-10, 11-8.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Ananya Vir and Emma Smith picked up the lone wins for Wesleyan
  • Vir won the No. 2 spot in four sets. After dropping the first (11-6), she responded with wins of 11-6, 11-5, 14-11.
  • In the No. 9 position, Smith's strong start to the season continued as she swept her opponent. Smith won by marks of 11-4, 11-1, 11-8.

UP NEXT:

  • Both teams return to action on Friday, January 17 and will play at Haverford at 3 p.m.
