Five First Place Finishes for Women’s Track & Field at Trinity

Cardinals capture victories in the 100m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 4x400m relay

HARTFORD, Conn. – In a fantastic all-around performance for the Wesleyan women's track & field team, five first place finishes for the Cardinals helped pave the way for a third place finish out of nine teams at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday. Gabby Harris '23 was one of the first-place finishers on the day as the senior advanced to the finals of the 100m with a preliminary time of 12.44 seconds (fastest of 34 competitors). She followed that up with a personal-best time of 12.30 seconds to capture first place in the final. Harris also competed in the 200m wherein she landed a fourth place finish out of 46 sprinters at 25.98 seconds.
 
Capturing one of two total wins on the day was Grace Devanny '23 who coasted to a first-place result in the 400m with a time of 55.61 seconds. Kenzie Kelly '25 showed well, running in a personal-best time of 58.92 seconds to finish in fourth place out of 22. Sarah Schlosberg '25 ran the event in 1:01.59 to take seventh place.
 
Maeve Hoffman '23 won the 800m by a full five seconds as the senior posted a time of 2:16.47 to land in first place out of 27 competitors. Both Maya Nikoukari '26 (2:29.64; 8th place) and Jane Kakalec '26 (2:30.07; 9th) posted personal bests in the 800m.
 
The middle-distance contingent continued to show well as Jordan Walter '25 was the fourth individual winner on the day for Wesleyan, landing in first in the 1500m with a time of 4:41.94. Stephanie Ager '26 was right behind in third place at 4:48.17. Cornelia Carragher '25 posted a PR with a time of 5:00.09 that earned her 12th place in the 1500m.
 
The fifth and final first-place finish on the day for the Cardinals was in the 4x400m relay with Hoffman, Kelly, Devanny, and Sophia Mack '26 combining for a time of 3:59.21 that was easily good enough for first place as the runner-up (Springfield) crossed in 4:14.85.
 
Kate Hausladen '23 continues to shine in the hurdles, posting a PR of 1:07.27 in the 400m hurdles to take a runner-up finish out of five competitors.
 
The pole vault competition saw both Fiona Carroll '25 and Erika Kluge '23 post 3.25m which was good enough for a runner-up finish.
 
Claire Edwards '24 posted a couple of personal-best throws, tossing 36.51m in the discus to take fourth place overall out of 29 throwers, while she also posted 27.93m in the hammer.
 
Emilia Thornton '24 showed well in both the hammer and javelin, leading the team in both events. She threw 30.81m in the hammer (11th place) while she posted a personal-best 30.69m in the javelin which was good enough for sixth place.
 
Rex Beaver '26 was just 0.01 seconds away from earning the last spot in the 100m finals, as she crossed the line in 13.27 seconds to finish in 9th in the preliminaries. She later followed with a PR in the 200m at 27.07 seconds to place 13th.
