SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Wesleyan wrestling team was dealt a 37-7 defeat on Saturday to No. 25 nationally-ranked Springfield. The Cardinals drop to 4-3 on the season while the Pride are now 10-4.
Springfield went up 12-0 after two matches, earning pinfall wins at both 125 and 133. The Cardinals responded with a pair of wins as
Hayden Myers '27 took down Luke Temple in a 13-1 major decision victory at 141 before
Shailen Savur '25 came through in a high-scoring 11-8 decision victory at 149 to make it 12-7 Pride after four bouts.

The Pride answered back with a tech fall win at 157 and took full control of the match with three straight decision wins at 165, 174, and 184 to earn the match-clinching point. Wesleyan lost those three bouts by a combined 10 points including a pair of losses by just two points at 165 and 184.

Springfield won the match in style, earning a tech fall win at 197 and another pinfall victory at 285 to take the 37-7 victory.

Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday, February 3 with a trip to Ithaca for a quad dual against Oneonta, Ithaca College, and Williams.
