MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Opening the 2025-26 season with a dominate performance at home, the Wesleyan women's track and field team saw freshman
Sydni Chandler break the school record in the indoor 60m hurdles as four picked up first-place finishes with 14 Top 3 finishes at the Wesleyan Winter Invite.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Chandler had a standout performance in her first outing with the Cardinals, breaking the school record in the 60m hurdles as she placed first with a new record time of 9.46. Chandler tops the previous time set by Sierra Livious in 2012, 9.48. Chandler also placed second in the high jump with a distance of 1.55m.
- Ellie Green '28 won the 800m, crossing the line at 2:28.08. The Cardinals swept the Top 3 spots, Jane Kakalec '26 taking second (2:30.38) as Virginia Lustenberger '26 took third (2:38.19).
- First in the mile, Genevieve Minard '28 clocked in a final time of 5:17.88.
- In the 3,000m, Kaitlyn Connors '29 took first with a final time of 10:34.60. In second was Alexandra Weingard '28 (10:35.75), and Bella Migliore '28 was third (11:00.66).
- The Cardinals 4x400m relay team took first, finishing with a combined 4:14.70 as Katherine Goss '29, Juliette Sullivan '27, Rachel Masterson '26, and Anika Frutman '28 all participated.
- Masterson placed second in the 200m with a 27.08. In the 400m, Amelia Goettsch '29 took second at 1:01.40. She was followed by Sophia Mack '26 in third (1:03.45).
- Goss finished third behind Chandler in the hurdles, running a 9.69. In the 5,000m, Stephanie Ager '26 placed third with a 18:12.10.
The Cardinals return to action in the new year, resuming competition on Saturday, Jan. 10, for the first Wesleyan Indoor Invite.
