PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Wesleyan men's squash team closed out the 2025-26 season on Saturday as the Cardinals defeated Chatham 5-4 before falling to Denison 6-3 in the consolation flight bracket of the Summers Cup (C Division) at the CSA Divisional Team Championships. The Cardinals finish the season with an 8-10 record.
Wesleyan landed 3-0 wins in the #5, #6, and #7 spots in the lineup against Chatham and then added a pair of default wins at #8 and #9 to secure the 5-4 win in the consolation semifinal round.
Zach Lu '29 defeated Brett Poles 11-6, 14-12 at #5 while
Matthyaz Williams '29 prevailed in a tight 11-6, 13-11, 12-10 win over Keyel Beasley at #6.
Nimai Kini '26 landed the match-clinching win at #7 as he defeated Obed Roman Garcia 11-9, 11-8, 11-6.
Then in the consolation flight title match against Denison, Lu, Williams and Kini each won their matches but the Cardinals couldn't land wins on any of the other six courts as the Big Red prevailed for the 6-3 win.
Lu secured his second win of the day in four sets, taking down Ross Falcon 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-4 at #5. Kini won in straight sets against Aimaan Zakaria 11-7, 11-3, 11-9 while Williams came back from 2-1 sets down in a 12-10, 6-11, 11-13, 11-7, 11-6 marathon match to land another win for the Cardinals.
Denison controlled play throughout the remaining courts, winning four of their six points in three-set wins.
Arjun Somani '29 took one set off of Nathan Cukierman at #2 while
Luke Wilson '29 won a set at #9.
