PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The No. 8 Wesleyan women's crew team battled against the two top-ranked crews in the nation and showed very well on Saturday at Onota Lake. The Cardinals were runner-up in the 2
nd Varsity 8 and 3
rd Varsity 8 and placed first in the women's four to highlight the day.
Racing in good conditions with a moderate to slight chop and a cross headwind of less than 10 mph, the morning kicked off with the Varsity 8 in a race that saw Williams capture first with a time of 7:17.30. Trinity took second place (7:18.71) while the Cardinals finished in 7:22.91.
Wesleyan's 2V8 raced to a second place result, finishing behind only Trinity (7:29.20) and ahead of Williams (7:31.61), with a time of 7:31.02. The Cardinals added another runner-up finish in the 3V8 as the Cardinals (7:40.72) were less than two seconds behind the Ephs (7:39.10) and nearly 13 seconds ahead of Trinity's A (7:53.71) boat and well ahead of Trinity's B (8:20.63).
The Cardinals capped the morning with a win in the women's four competition as Wesleyan crossed the line in 9:04.60, more than 17 seconds faster than Trinity (9:22.09) and nearly 30 seconds faster than Williams (9:33.49).
Wesleyan has a bye week before the New England Championships on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, May 2.
