WORCESTER, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's crew team competed in the National Invitational Rowing Championship on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond.
The Cardinals got a good showing from the 2
nd Varsity 8 that that earned a spot in the grand final with the second-best preliminary time in heat 3. Racing out of lane 3, Wesleyan did well to take third place overall with a time of 7:30.797, finishing behind Tufts and Trinity.
The Varsity 8 was third-best in heat 1 of preliminaries and competed in the petite final in the afternoon. Wesleyan's boat clocked in at 7:23.58 to claim a runner-up finish in the petite final, good enough for eighth place overall out of 19 boats.
In other action, the 3
rd Varsity 8 boat won the petite final with a time of 8:09.525, which gave Wesleyan seventh place overall out of 13 boats. Then in the women's four, the Cardinals placed fourth in the grand final at 10:00.555.
Wesleyan awaits the NCAA Selection Show on Tuesday to see if the Cardinals can make it back to the NCAA Championships.
