MIDDLETOWN, CT. - Wesleyan women's cross country captured a first-place finish at the Cardinal Invitational on Saturday morning, placing eight runners among the top 25 finishers and showcasing impressive depth throughout the field. First-year runner Logan Ignacio led the Cardinals, finishing second overall at Wesleyan's Wes Furman Trail Cross Country Course.

Following the Cardinals in the final standings, Amherst, Coast Guard, Keene State, and WPI made up the top 5. Ursinus, Eastern Connecticut State, and Colby-Sawyer made up the rest of the field.

Ignacia finished with a final 21:47.6 while recording a personal best. Clara Shingler '30 followed closely in fourth at 21:55.4, while Chase Cerrell '28 placed fifth in 22:03.6. Ava Bullock '30 added a seventh-place finish in 22:09.8, followed by fellow first-year Addy Reed in ninth at 22:18.1. Clare Mahedy '29 rounded out Wesleyan's top five, finishing 12th in 22:26.5.

The Cardinals continued to dominate the field with Bella Migliore '29 (14th, 22:30.0), Alexandra Simon '27 (16th, 22:34.1), Margaret Stevens '27 (17th, 22:34.7), and Alexandra Weingard '28 (20th, 22:39.7) also finishing among the top 20. Several Wesleyan runners posted personal or season bests, highlighting a strong overall team performance.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Oct. 2, when they run the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
