MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The postseason honors continue to pile up for senior wide receiver Mike Breuler of the Wesleyan University football team as he was most recently named to the D3football.com 2017 All-East Region Team as a First Team Offense selection.
The teams were chosen from 321 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 77 players were picked. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 15 during D3football.com's pregame coverage of the Stagg Bowl XLV.
Breuler is just one of two NESCAC athletes to be honored and is the only player in the league to be named to the First Team. He is joined by the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, Andrew Yamin of Amherst College, who was named to the Second Team.
The Hamden, Conn. native has received several accolades following the conclusion of his historic senior season. He was named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Year, the Joe Zabilski Award winner (top Division II/III offensive player in New England), an All-NESCAC First Team selection, and a New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team honoree.
Breuler finished the season with 87 catches for 1,172 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns in just nine games. He broke the NESCAC and Wesleyan records for catches and yards in a single season. He also ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in all of Division III in receptions per game and receiving yards per game throughout the year.
