Von Jess Named NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week

HADLEY, Mass. – For the second time this season, freshman kicker Mason Von Jess of the Wesleyan football team has been named the NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week, as selected by the conference office.

Von Jess played a pivotal role in the Cardinals' come-from-behind victory over Tufts last night. Trailing 10-0 at halftime and 10-7 entering the fourth quarter, Von Jess hit two field goals from 37 and 27 yards out in the final 15 minutes of regulation. He was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points as Wesleyan won, 20-13.

The Lakeville, Conn. native has been excellent thus far for the Cardinals and is 7-of-8 from field goals and 17-of-18 on extra-points for the season. He's been named the NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week for week one and week five.

Wesleyan (5-0) returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 19 in a battle of the unbeatens as the Cardinals face Middlebury (5-0) on the road beginning at 1 p.m.
