  • Men's Basketball Downs Trinity 83-69

    Hartford, Conn. – Wesleyan’s Antone Walker scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to the men’s basketball team to an 83-69 win at Trinity on Friday evening.  With the win, the Cardinals improve to 10-5 overall and earns their first NESCAC victory. Trinity drops to 10-6 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC with its second-straight loss. Wesleyan entertains NESCAC rival Connecticut College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

    Gab Ravetz completed a four-point play with 11 seconds remaining to give Wesleyan the lead, but Kody Greehalgh of Bates drove to the basket and hit a contested layup before time expired to lift the Bobcats to an 81-80 victory on Sunday afternoon in Silloway Gymnasium.

    The Wesleyan men’s basketball team closed out 2019 with a win on Wednesday night as the Cardinals defeated Gwynedd Mercy in the Hoopsmia Shootout, 66-50. Antone Walker led the team with 12 points while Jordan James registered a double-double with 11 and 11 rebounds.

Jordan James was named the Tournament MVP as he dropped 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds, blocked three shots, and dished out two assists.

The honor marks the second of his career, as Bonner was also named a first-team selection a year ago.

    The Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (16-8, 6-4 NESCAC) earned the six-seed in the 2019 NESCAC Championships and will play third-seeded Amherst College (20-4, 7-3 NESCAC) on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Feb. 23 at the highest remaining seed in the tournament, with the finals set for Feb. 24.

    Jordan Bonner etched his name in the Wesleyan record books on Senior Day Saturday as the Houston, Texas native became the 24th player in Cardinals’ men’s basketball history to score 1,000 career points, as he helped guide Wesleyan to a commanding 91-65 victory over Bowdoin. With the win, the Cardinals secured a spot in the NESCAC Tournament.

    The 25th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team trailed by 20 at halftime but the Cardinals rallied in the second half and took a 69-66 lead with 3:32 remaining. However, two clutch 3-pointers by Brennan Morris helped seal the win for Tufts University as the Jumbos held on for the win, 75-71 on Saturday afternoon in Cousens Gym.
