CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Wesleyan University men's crew competed at the two-day Head of the Charles Regatta this weekend, and finished 17th out of 37 boats in the Men's Collegiate Eights. The Cardinals, who also finished fourth overall amongst NESCAC opponents, crossed the finish line in 15:00.457.
Virginia won the event with a time of 14:24.211. Rounding out the top-five were St. Josephs (14:25.083), Bates (14:32.444), Michigan (14:40.394) and Marist (14:40.850). Wesleyan was edged by Little Three rival Williams who finished 16th overall with a mark of 14:57.747.
In addition, the Cardinals also competed in the Men's Collegiate Fours Sunday and placed 28th out of 40 boats. Wesleyan finished in 17:27.211 right behind Tufts who took 27th in 17:26.808. The University of North Carolina won the event in 16:04.425 followed by Vermont (16:25.343) and Virginia (16:29.373).
During Day 1 action on Saturday, Wesleyan finished 35th overall in the 52-boat field of the Men's Club Fours with a mark of 18:25.775. The top three teams in the event were Riverside (16:22.856), Dartmouth (16:32.740) and Boston University (16:36.862).
The Cardinals wrap up the 2017 fall season next Saturday (Oct. 28) at the Head of the Fish in Saratoga, N.Y.
