John Kauffman joins the Wesleyan men's crew team this fall as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Before joining Wesleyan, John was a volunteer assistant with the Yale Lightweight University crew team. Originally from Baltimore, Md., he was an active member of the Baltimore Rowing Club. John represented BRC in the Britannia Challenge Cup at the 2016 Henley Royal Regatta. In addition to being an avid rower in Baltimore, he also served as part of the coaching staff for both the master's and junior's programs.
John helped the men's and women's teams at Loyola University, Maryland as an assistant coach during the 2012-2014 seasons while earning his Masters of Teaching. He started his coaching career at Dallas Jesuit Preparatory School as an assistant coach in 2011.
John began rowing at Bucknell University in 2007 as a walk-on novice. As a four-year member of the team, he earned a place in the top novice boat followed by three years in the varsity 8.
John still loves rowing and looks for any excuse to get into a boat and is working on a second Masters degree in Liberal Studies at Wesleyan.
