MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Joe Amendola '16 of the Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team was named a 2016 Division III All-New England Preseason Team selection by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, and Grey Bradshaw-Mack '17 earned honorable mention.
Amendola was named to the second team defense along with three others – Tyler Olney and Connor Landsdale of Tufts, and Connor Samuelson of Springfield – and Bradshaw-Mack was the lone long stick midfielder recognized as a honorable mention.
Amendola and Bradshaw-Mack anchored a defensive unit that ranked second in the NESCAC in goals allowed (152) last season, and third in goals-against average (9.44). The Cardinals' backline also caused 132 turnovers, fourth-best in league-play, as Amendola and Bradshaw-Mack recorded six and 11, respectively.
Wesleyan looks to improve on an impressive 2015 campaign, in which it earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and concluded the season with an overall record of 9-7.
The 2016 season gets underway Saturday, March 5 as the Cardinals host NESCAC foe Bates. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
