Bergman and Stanton Named Preseason All-America Honorable Mentions

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Co-captains Ted Bergman '17 and Harry Stanton '18 have been named 2017 Division III Preseason All-America Honorable Mentions, as announced by Inside Lacrosse.

Bergman is coming off an impressive junior campaign, in which he earned his first all-conference selection of his career. The goalie from Media, Pa. earned the starting nod between the posts last season, and made the best of his opportunity en route to a Second Team All-NESCAC honor. One of the top goalies in the league a year ago, Bergman finished fifth in save percentage (54.6) and fifth in goals-against average (10.25), while Wesleyan ranked second in the conference in fewest goals allowed (154).

Stanton excelled in his sophomore season and proved to be one of the most dynamic goal scorers in the conference. A First Team All-NESCAC selection, he finished tied for fourth in the conference in goals scored (49) and 11th in points (56). He was also named a USILA/Nike All-America Honorable Mention and a Second Team All-New England selection. Stanton reached the 100-point club in just his second year with the program.

Bergman and Stanton were just two of 11 NESCAC players honored in the Preseason All-America list by Inside Lacrosse.

The Cardinals open their 2017 campaign Sunday in a difficult conference matchup on the road against No. 15 Bates. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
