MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Five members of the Wesleyan men's lacrosse team were named to the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) All-Region Team (Northeast). Otto Bohan earned First Team honors, while Christian Barker, Ronan Jacoby, Colin Malarchuk, and Sean Penney were named to the Second Team.
The First Team laurel is the second for Bohan in his second year starting between the posts. The junior goalie started all 17 games and logged 964:14 minutes in net. He recorded an 8.96 goals-against average and 59.0 save percentage while posting a 13-4 record.
Barker received his second, Second Team honor after another impressive season for the Cardinals. The senior midfielder scored 36 points on 18 goals and 18 assists this spring. He also led the squad in man-up goals with six and registered 23 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. Barker concluded his career ranked eighth all-time in program history with 187 points (87 goals, 100 assists).
Jacoby, Malarchuk, and Penney all earned their first IMLCA All-Region Team selection.
In his second collegiate season, Jacoby led the Cardinals in scoring with 61 points on 52 goals and nine assists. Jacoby already ranks 14th overall in program history with 141 career points on 118 goals and 23 assists.
Malarchuk had a breakout junior year on the defensive side of the ball as he led the NESCAC in caused turnovers with 41, doubling his total from the year before. Malarchuk also ranked second on the team in ground balls with 56.
Penney, a short-stick midfielder, had an excellent sophomore season. He played in all 17 games for the Cardinals and scored 10 points (5 g, 5 a), picked up 36 ground balls, and caused 15 turnovers.
Wesleyan finished the 2019 season with a 13-4 overall mark while reaching the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament.
