AMHERST, Mass. – The eighth-seeded Wesleyan University men's squash team finished seventh overall at the 2017 NESCAC Championships with a 9-0 sweep of No. 7 Bowdoin Sunday at host school Amherst College.
The top-seeded Trinity College men's squash team captured its 11th consecutive NESCAC title following an 8-1 win over No. 2 Bates College. The Bantams earned their 11th consecutive conference crown on the strength of sweeps on courts two through nine, while Bates picked up its lone victory on court one. The Bobcats have now twice finished as the runner-up in the NESCAC tournament after falling to Trinity, 7-2 in last year's championship match.
In the third place match, No. 4 Middlebury edged No. 3 Williams, 5-4 as the Panthers earned wins on courts five, six, seven, eight and nine to seal the win. Middlebury swept positions five, seven and eight. The Ephs swept courts one and four, earned a 3-1 victory on court two, and a 3-2 win on court three.
The fifth place match saw No. 5 Colby defeat No. 6 Amherst, 6-3 as the Mules won a trio of five-set matches on courts four, eight and nine to help secure the win.
In the seventh place match, No. 8 Wesleyan defeated No. 7 Bowdoin, 9-0 on the strength of 3-0 sweeps on courts four through nine.
