Men’s Squash Loses to Bowdoin in National Quarterfinals, 5-4

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The 31st-ranked Wesleyan men's squash team lost to NESCAC rival and No. 26 Bowdoin, 5-4, in the Conroy Cup Quarterfinals of the CSA National Team Championships on Friday afternoon in the Rosenbaum Squash Center.

It was the second time the two teams met this season, with the Polar Bears (6-11) claiming an 8-1 win over the Cardinals (4-17) on Jan. 20. Bowdoin advances to the semifinals tomorrow where it will face Harverford at 11:30 a.m. and Wesleyan falls into the consolation bracket and will play Hamilton at 9 a.m.


  • Fresh off his NESCAC Rookie of the Year award and a First Team selection, freshman Sean Choi claimed another win on Friday as he defeated Satya Butler in the No. 1 spot, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8.
  • Sophomore William Bienstock swept Tyler Shonrock in the No. 3 position by scores of 11-5, 11-8, 11-6.
  • Jackson Rubinoff '20 and Premchai Bunsermvicha '20 took the No. 7 and No. 9 spots, respectively. Rubinoff earned a hard-fought three-set match over Callen Fullerton by marks of 11-7, 12-10, 11-8, and Bunsermvicha defeated Travis Rase in four sets. After falling in the second, 12-10, to even the match, he responded with wins of 11-5 and 11-1.
