MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The 10th-seeded Wesleyan University men's squash team lost to seventh-seeded Tufts University in the First Round of the 2019 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship on the campus of Middlebury College Friday night, 9-0.
Following the loss, the Cardinals fell to 2-12 overall on the season and will compete in the consolation round tomorrow. Wesleyan will face No. 9 Connecticut College at 11:15 a.m. followed by No. 11 Hamilton at 1:30 p.m. The Jumbos improved to 6-8 and will play No. 2 Middlebury in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 12:15 p.m.
- Wesleyan won sets from the top of the lineup but was swept in the No. 4-9 positions.
- In the No. 1 spot, Sean Choi forced a decisive fifth set but eventually fell short against Raghav Kumar by scores of 11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-7.
- Yahya Ladiwala played a close match in the No. 2 position but was defeated by Konrad LaDow. LaDow won by marks of 13-11, 11-3, 7-11, 11-6.
- In the No. 3 spot, Josh Lane evened the match at 1-1 but lost the next two sets. He fell to Marco Rodriguez, 11-6, 9-11, 11-1, 11-6.
