MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The 29th-ranked Wesleyan men's squash team opened its 2019-20 season against No. 23 Tufts on Saturday afternoon and lost, 7-2.
"The team fought hard in their opening match of the season against a stronger team on the day," said Head Coach Shona Kerr. "There were standout wins for junior Sean Choi at No. 1 and freshman Shanay Sanghavi at No. 3, bringing home his match in five games. Freshman John Sutherby put up a valiant five-game battle at the No. 2 position."
Choi defeated Kunal Valia in the top spot by scores of 14-12, 11-6, 11-4, while Sanghavi rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win by scores of 6-11, 10-12, 12-10, 11-7, 11-7 in the No. 3 spot.
Wesleyan is back in action on Sunday, November 24 as the Cardinals host Bowdoin at 12 p.m.
