Men’s Track & Field Places 13th Overall at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Wesleyan University men's track & field team recorded a trio of top-three finishes during the Silfen Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Connecticut College, as the Cardinals finished 13th overall out of 19 teams.

Wesleyan compiled 24 team points, which was only three points behind NESCAC-foe Trinity for the 12th slot. Tufts won the event with an impressive mark of 129.

Sophomore Kevin McMorrow earned a runner-up finish during the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:40.52, while freshman Kevin DeLoughry (56.04) and junior Andrew McCracken (4.55m) placed third overall in the 400m hurdles and pole vault, respectively.  

DeLoughry, freshman Kyron Roberts, junior George Avrassoglou and senior Colin Mahoney were a cohesive unit during the 4x400m relay, as the group finished sixth overall, clocking a time of 3:29.16.

Senior Jessy Carrasco-Gonzalez grabbed an eighth-place nod in the pole vault (4.10), and sophomores Grant van Inwegen (4:02.27) and Conner Sexton (4:02.94) finished 12th and 14th overall, respectively, in the 1,500m.

The Cardinals will now set their focus on the Elmer Swanson Invitational, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, in Middletown, Conn.
