MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The inclement weather currently hanging over the Northeast and the weekend forecast has resulted in numerous schedule changes for the Wesleyan University baseball and softball teams, as the rain washed out all scheduled games for Wednesday.
The softball team (8-7, 0-2 NESCAC West Division) will now compete against non-conference foe Eastern Connecticut State on Thursday, with game times set for 3 and 5 p.m., respectively, in Mansfield, Conn. The squad has also rearranged its weekend series against Little Three-rival Williams, as the programs will suit up for a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 2 p.m. in Williamstown, Mass., and then the series finale will take place on Sunday at noon.
The baseball team (10-6) was originally scheduled to play Johnson & Wales on Wednesday at 4 p.m. from Dresser Diamond, but the weather did not cooperate, and the two schools are still working on a makeup date. The Cardinals decided to adjust their first NESCAC series of the 2018 season this weekend because of the forecast, as the unit will welcome Middlebury to Dresser Diamond for a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at noon, and then the teams will battle in the series finale on Sunday at noon.
The schedule is subject to change depending on the forecast and timing of the storms.
