FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. - Junior guard Olivia Gorman of the Wesleyan University women's basketball team was recently honored by her high school, Germantown Academy, as she was named to the 2009-18 All-Decade Team.
Among the notable alum that have played at this storied high school program feature UConn-great Caroline Doty, as well as many former athletes who played at the Division I level. Joining Gorman on the All-Decade Team is standout player Maggie Lucas, who recently signed with the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA.
"One of the most natural scorers in Germantown Academy history, Olivia was equally effective shooting from long-range, as she was snaking through the lane for a score," wrote Germantown Academy sports information assistant Joe Cicchino. "Olivia was a two-time Inter-Academic League Champion and was selected Inter-AC Player of the Year as a senior."
Longtime Head Coach, Sherri Retif, commented on her selection, "The selection committee was unanimous in including Olivia among the honorees. This honor indicates that Olivia was among our very best."
As part of the Wesleyan University women's basketball team, Gorman led the Cardinals in scoring (12.9) during a resurgent 2017-18 season as the squad finished 17-8, while reaching the NESCAC Semifinals where they lost to the eventual national champions, Amherst College. Gorman is a three-sport athlete at Wesleyan and in addition to basketball, she also plays soccer in the fall and softball in the spring.
