HADLEY, Mass. – Senior forward Tara Berger of the Wesleyan women's basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week following a stellar performance during the Cardinals' first two games of the 2018-19 season.

Berger had a huge weekend for Wesleyan as she averaged a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds, including 3.5 blocks as the Cardinals went 1-1 with a loss to Cabrini (69-61) following by a decisive win over Swarthmore (82-59).
The Purchase, N.Y. native dropped 22 points in the team's season-opener against Cabrini as she went 6-of-11 from the floor. She also pulled in 16 rebounds, including eight offensive boards, and blocked three shots.
The following day, Berger helped lead Wesleyan to a win over Swarthmore as she scored 18 points and grabbed 14 boards. She also dished out four assists, blocked four shots, and recorded two steals.
Berger was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll as well.
Wesleyan is back in action Tuesday, Nov. 20 and will play at Medgar Evers beginning at 6 p.m. The Cardinals' home opener is set for Saturday, Dec. 1 against Marywood (2 p.m.).
