MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Caleigh Ryan of the Wesleyan University women's basketball team has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week following an impressive performance in two wins as she averaged a double-double with 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 58.6 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range.

Ryan was excellent during the Cardinals' 2-0 week. In a 72-65 win at New Jersey City, she scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, which were both season-highs at the time. However, she surpassed those numbers the following game as she helped Wesleyan defeat Connecticut College at home, 68-60. The first-year guard scored 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-6 from downtown, and secured 12 boards. Additionally, she recorded five steals and dished out three assists.
Ryan currently leads the team in steals (1.6 spg), and ranks third in scoring (10.3 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg) and assists (1.7 apg). She is the second Wesleyan player to earn NESCAC Player of the Week honors this year, joining Tara Berger who was selected as player of the week on November 19.
The Cardinals are in a three-way tie for 6th in the NESCAC standings with a 2-3 mark. They are also 10-6 overall and return to action tonight at 7 p.m. to host Little Three rival and No. 5 Amherst in non-conference action.
