MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – A day after earning her first NESCAC Player of the Week honor, freshman guard Caleigh Ryan was also named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week.

Ryan excelled during a 2-0 week in which she averaged a double-double with 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in wins over New Jersey City (72-65) and Connecticut College (68-60). Additionally, she shot 58.6 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range.
The New York native is the first Cardinal to receive the award this season and is the second to earn NESCAC Player of the Week honors, joining senior Tara Berger. Ryan has made an immediate impact in her first season and has started all 17 games. She is averaging 10.1 points per game in 26.5 minutes, and is averaging 6.2 rebounds. Additionally, she leads the team in steals, averaging 1.5 per game.
Ryan and the Cardinals return to action this weekend with NESCAC games against Bates and Tufts, respectively. Wesleyan will host the Bobcats Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Jumbos the following day at 3 p.m.
