MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan women's lacrosse head coach Kim Williams has been selected by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) to coach the Division III South Team at the 2019 Senior All-Star Game.
The Senior All-Star games will be held on Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. on Saturday, June 1, 2019. The Division III teams will play the first game at 11:30 am, the Division I game will follow at 1:00 pm, and the Division II teams will cap off the event with their game at 2:30 pm. Admission for all three games is free of charge. The games will also be web-streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com.
Williams will coach the South Team while Courtney Shute of Tufts will coach the North Team. Williams guided Wesleyan to its best season in program history as the Cardinals reached the NCAA Semifinals and finished the year with a 17-4 overall record and 8-2 NESCAC mark. It was the first time ever that the Cardinals reached the Final Four.
Williams took over the Wesleyan women's lacrosse program in 2016 following eight straight losing seasons. In her first year, the Cardinals went 5-9 overall and 2-8 in the NESCAC. The two conference wins were the most in seven years. Since then, Wesleyan has posted a 40-17 (.702) mark and gone 21-9 (.700) in the NESCAC, while reaching three-straight NCAA Tournaments. Prior to her arrival, Wesleyan had never qualified for the national postseason.
