SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Roy Forys was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Springfield College, as he helped lead the Wesleyan wrestling team to a sixth-place finish out of 17 teams. Forys won the 165-pound title to claim the award.
Springfield won the tournament with 111.5 points and two first-place finishers, while Centenary took second (102.5) and Southern Maine claimed third (97.5). Rounding out the top-five were the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (94.5) and East Stroudsburg (88.5). Wesleyan took fifth with 73.5 points ahead of Little Three rival Williams who placed seventh with 64.
- Forys was excellent on Saturday as he went 5-0 and defeated the No. 2 ranked 165-pound wrestler in the country, Nick Remke of Coast Guard, by an 8-5 decision in the finals.
- At 133, Dylan Jones went 3-1 overall and made his second finals appearance in as many weeks as he took second overall.
- Rounding out the top performances on the day for Wesleyan were Zack Murillo and Shane Ross. Murillo placed 5th at 125 with a 4-1 record, and Ross claimed third at 149 with a 4-1 mark as well.
- The Cardinals return to the mats on Saturday, Dec. 1 and will compete at the RIT Invitational beginning at 9 a.m.
