Wesleyan University

Filippakis enters his sixth season on the Wesleyan coaching staff in 2021-22. 

He started wrestling during his sophomore year at Central High School in Bridgeport, Conn. Filippakis then attended Norwich University where he majored in Physical Education and graduated in 2006. He wrestled all four years in college and was a three-time placer in three weights at the New Enland Conference Championships (133/141/149), while also earning Academic All-America honors.

Filippakis served as an assistant coach at Norwich during the 2006-07 season. He was also an assistant and head coach at Trumbull High School from 2007 to 2016. While at Trumbull, he was named the Class LL Assistant Coach of the Year in 2012 and was the FCIAC Head Coach of the Year in 2013.
