Ekpenyong enters his ninth season on the Wesleyan coaching staff in 2023-24.

He started wrestling during his freshman year at Middletown High School. While in high school, he was a 4x state place winner, a 2x State champ, a 1x Connecticut state champ, and a New England place winner (fourth). He continued wrestling after high school at Springfield College where he studied Criminal Justice. Ekpenyong was a standout collegiate wrestler as he went 23-12 overall during his senior year.
