Ten-year head coach Shona Kerr will welcome back several seasoned players at the top of the squash team lineups. The women's squash will be fast gaining experience at the varsity level. First team All-American Laila Samy '18 will lead the team at the number 1 position; Liza Bayless '16 and Bridget Doherty '16 will serve as captains.
The Cardinals will be looking to push closer to a Little Three Championship and to challenge at the NESCAC championships with the top teams. Laila Samy was awarded first team All-American, NESCAC Rookie of the Year and first team all-NESCAC honors.
The Wesleyan women finished the season ranked 20th in the country, and finished the season on a high with a great win and performance over a fast-improving University of VirginLaila Samy the Howe Cup in Boston.
Laila Samy will be near impossible to beat at the number 1 position, having posted a 25-1 record last season.
This is a fiercely committed group that demands excellence of each other and is determined to excel to the highest level.
Wesleyan will welcome back alums to play against these teams at 11 a.m. on November 7th as part of homecoming weekend. Any friends, family or alums are more than welcome to join the teams at the Rosenbaum Squash Center at Wesleyan.
