HARTFORD, Conn. – Laila Samy '18 and Sherly Francois '20 of the 21st-ranked Wesleyan University women's squash team each won their respective matches but the Cardinals fell to No. 3 Trinity College in the 2017-18 season-opener, 7-2.
Wesleyan is 0-1 following its season-opening loss while the Bantams improve to 3-0.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
- Samy, a three-time First Team All-American, claimed her first match of the season as she defeated Julia LeCoq in the No. 1 spot by scores of 11-9, 12-10, 11-9.
- After a stellar first-year, Francois started off her sophomore campaign strong as she held off a rally by Josie Fitzgerald in the No. 9 position to claim a thrilling five-set match 11-3, 11-7, 7-11, 10-12, 11-5.
- The Bantams swept the No. 2-8 spots.
