Cardinals Record Varsity Record on First Day of NESCAC Championship

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The 2019 NESCAC women's swimming and diving championship weekend kicked off on Thursday evening with the 800-yard freestyle relay.

The first relay team for Wesleyan, raced to a sixth-place finish, clocking in at 7:36.64. The team, composed of Hannah O'Halloran, Caroline Murphy, Mengmeng Gibbs and Sophia Antonio, set a new varsity record for Wesleyan and established an NCAA B-cut consideration time.

The second team for the Cardinals (Maela Whitcomb, Rachel Townsend, Kylie Han and Alex Berger) recorded a time of 7:54.97, placing 19th overall.

Wesleyan is back in action on Friday with preliminary heats beginning at 10 a.m.

All tickets will be sold at the door and are $8 per session for adults and $3 per session for children and students. There will only be 42 general admission tickets available for each session. Doors will open 60 minutes prior to the preliminaries and finals.
