Five Members of Women’s Swimming & Diving Named to the CSCAA Scholar All-American Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sophia Antonio, Mengmeng Gibbs, Grace Middleton, Hannah O'Halloran and Maela Whitcomb of the Wesleyan women's swimming and diving team were named to the 2019 CSCAA Scholar All-American team as announced by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 of higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. The organization recognized 1,221 swimmers and divers from 190 colleges and universities across all Divisions.

In the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championship, Wesleyan placed 25th overall in a field of 50 competitors. Gibbs, O'Halloran and Whitcomb helped lead the 200-yard medley relay team to a 12th-place finish, while Gibbs, Middleton and Whitcomb were a part of the 400-yard medley relay team that claimed 15th-place. Both the 200 and 400 medley relay teams earned All-America Honorable Mention. Additionally, Antonio, O'Halloran and Middleton participated in the 200-yard freestyle relay team which placed 20th, while Antonio, Gibbs and Middleton helped guide the 400-yard freestyle relay to a 24th-place finish.
