No. 8 Wesleyan Edged by No. 5 Amherst, 6-3

AMHERST, Mass. – The eighth-ranked Wesleyan University women's tennis team fell to Little Three rival and No. 5 Amherst College Sunday by a score of 6-3.

Wesleyan: 4-4, 1-4 NESCAC
Amherst: 10-5, 4-1 NESCAC


  • Amherst took a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
  • The Cardinals picked up their win in the No. 1 spot, as Eudice Chong '18 and Aashli Budhiraja '18 edged Sue Ghosh and Sarah Monteagudo, 8-6.


  • In singles action, Chong earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ghosh in the No. 1 position.
  • Victoria Yu '19 dropped her first set, 6-4, but responded with wins of 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 singles to defeat Vickie Ip.
  • Budhiraja and Monteagudo had a thrilling three-set match in No. 4 singles. Budhiraja took the first set, 6-3, but fell in sets two and three, 6-2, 6-2.


  • The Cardinals are back in action Tuesday, April 19 and will host Bates at 3 p.m.
  • Amherst returns to the court Wednesday, April 20 and will host No. 15 Tufts at 4 p.m.
