The Lead: The No. 8 Wesleyan University women's tennis team opened its 2016-17 dual match season with a win Tuesday as it defeated No. 12 Carnegie Mellon in Claremont, Calif., 6-3.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead after doubles action.
- No. 1 doubles featuring Eudice Chong '18 and Helen Klass-Warch '18 earned an 8-4 win, while the No. 2 doubles team of Victoria Yu '19 and Aashli Budhiraja '18 claimed an 8-5 victory.
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS:
- Wesleyan won singles play, 4-2, with wins in the No. 1, 2, 5 and 6 positions.
- Chong and Yu claimed No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, with wins of 6-0, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-3.
- Nicole McCann '18 earned a win in No. 5 singles with scores of 6-3, 6-4, and Dasha Dubinsky '18 won a thriller in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4).
