ORLANDO, Fla. – The seventh-ranked Wesleyan women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over No. 12 Washington (Mo.) on Monday afternoon on day two of its Spring Break trip at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 2-0 on the year, while the Bears fell to 4-5 with their third-straight loss.
- Wesleyan took a 3-0 lead after doubles play as Victoria Yu and Kristina Yu won No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-5, and Venia Yeung and Polina Kiseleva won by an identical score in the No. 2 slot. In No. 3 doubles, Alexis Almy and Alissa Nakamoto took the match decisively, 8-3.
- Wesleyan's strong play continued in singles action as Kiseleva increased the lead to 4-0 with wins of 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot.
- Almy would then seal the victory in No. 5 singles as she won by marks of 6-1, 6-2.
- The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow and will face No. 29 Case Western Reserve at 11:30 a.m.
