Women's Tennis Cruises Past Conn College 9-0

MIDDLETOWN, Conn.—Wesleyan's women cruised past Connecticut College on Wednesday afternoon, topping the Camels 9-0 in a match that was all Cardinals from start to finish.  The win brings the #7 Cards' record to 6-1 this season, with a perfect 2-0 start in home matches as NESCAC play begins to ramp up over the next month.

  • Due to academic obligations, Wesleyan had to put together some new doubles teams for the match. At #1, senior Victoria Yu joined forces with freshman Alexis Almy for the first time, looking great in an 8-2 victory.

  • At #2, sophomore Polina Kiseleva and freshman Venia Yeung continued their strong run of form, dominating in an 8-1 win.

  • Sophomore Daniela Alvarez and freshman Megan Tran also joined forces for the first time in a dual match, but didn't skip a beat, coming away as 8-3 winners.

  • At all six singles positions, the Cardinals were in complete control. Wesleyan did not drop a set, with no player losing more than four games total on their way to the 9-0 sweep.

A big weekend awaits for the Cardinals, starting with a showdown in Middletown with #12 Bowdoin on Saturday at 10 AM. The next day, Wesleyan will make the trip to Boston for another key NESCAC matchup when they take on #8 Tufts Sunday at 3:00 PM.
