Women's Tennis Sails Past Trinity 9-0

MIDDLETOWN, Conn.— Wesleyan's No. 4 women's tennis team earned their eleventh win of the season on a sunny Wednesday afternoon, taking care of business against Trinity with a 9-0 victory.  The Cardinals were dominant from start to finish, getting out to a big start with a doubles sweep and showing no signs of a let up during the singles, taking all six matches in straight sets. With the win, the women move to 6-1 in NESCAC play on the season as they head into the final weekend of the regular season.

  • Venia Yeung and Polina Kiseleva moved up into the #1 position for the first time, and despite going down an early break, the Northeast eighth-ranked duo fought back well, taking their match 8-5.

  • Also moving up a spot were Alissa Nakamoto and Alexis Almy, who were completely unfazed by the lineup change in a 8-2 win.

  • At #3, freshman Megan Tran and sophomore Daniela Alvarez also contributed to the doubles sweep with a very clean match, winning 8-2 as well.

  • Yeung was relentless at #1, not dropping a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 win.

  • At #2, #3, and #4, the Cards comfortably took care of business, with Kristina Yu, Almy, and Nakamoto all winning in straight sets, dropping only two games each.

  • Finishing things off was Alvarez at #5 and Zoe Klass-Warch at #6, both of whom sailed to straight set wins. Alvarez won 6-2, 6-1 while Klass-Warch was victorious by a 6-1, 6-0 score.

The final weekend of the regular season features two home matches against NESCAC opponents for Wesleyan. On Saturday, they'll face No. 40 Colby at 10 AM. And to finish out the regular season the Cards will play host to No. 39 Hamilton, also at 10 AM.
