KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Three members of women's tennis National Championship team gear up to compete in the NCAA Individual Championships beginning on Friday. Victoria Yu, Kristina Yu and Venia Yeung were all selected to compete in singles competition, while the sister duo will play in doubles as well. The first round of singles begins at 9:00 a.m., with winners advancing and playing again at 1:00 p.m., while doubles are slated for 3:30 p.m.
In singles, senior Yu will take on Michelle Uyeda of Linfield for the first time this year. Yeung competes against Daniela Lopez of Emory for the third time this year. The two met earlier in the week during the NCAA Team Semifinals when Yeung cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory, but it was Lopez who earned the win in the first meeting (6-3, 3-6, 6-3). First-year Yu and Catherine Allen of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will battle each other for the second time in three days. In the NCAA Championship match, Yu fell 6-4, 6-3. The sister duo will take on Carnegie Mellon's Mellissa Strome and Danna Taylor for the first time this year.
