HONG KONG, China – First-year Venia Yeung and Eudice Chong '18 of the Wesleyan women's tennis program will compete in the 2019 ITF World Tennis Tour in Hong Kong, China this week. The ITF World Tennis Tour serves as a player pathway between the junior game and the elite levels of professional tennis. Yeung and Chong will both compete in the singles' main draw of 32 beginning around 11:30 p.m. EST Wednesday, while the two will also compete in the main draw of 16 doubles on Thursday.
Yeung wrapped up her rookie campaign just three days ago when she competed in the 2019 NCAA Division III Singles Championship match. She finished her stellar season having been a part of the 2019 NCAA DIII National Championship team, earning All-America honors, placing second in the NCAA DIII Singles Championship, as well as earning All-NESCAC First Team singles honors.
Chong, a 2018 graduate who became the first four-time NCAA DIII Champion in history, is competing in the tournament in both singles and doubles. She began her professional career after graduation, is currently ranked 156th in ITF World Tennis Singles, 394th in WTA Singles and 303rd in WTA Doubles.
