Wesleyan Finishes Ninth at the US Coast Guard Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Wesleyan University women's track and field team finished ninth of twelve teams at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Invitational.

  • The Cardinals' 4x400 relay team of Aida Julien '18, Sydney Cogswell '16, Isabella Reilly '19 and Claudia Schatz '19 took home third place in the event with theClaudia Schatz7.09.
  • In the 200 meter event, freshman Claudia Schatz crossed the line with a time of 28.77
  • Cogswell and Isabella Reilly '19 finished in ninth and 13th place respectively in the 400 meter event with times of 1:03.26 and 1:04.00.
  • In the 800 meter event Sylwia Lipior '18 and Molly Schassberger '17 gave Wesleyan sixth and seventh place finishes with their times of 2:25.71 and 2:25.86.
  • Schassberger also grabbed a seventh place finish in the 1500 meter event as she crossed the line with a time of 4:49.90. Caroline Elmendorf '17 and Rhoen Fiutak '19 finished ninth and tenth in the event with times of 4:59.95 and 5:00.23 respectively.


  • Allegra Fils-Aime '19 took home first place in the triple jump event with a mark of 10.49m.
  • In the high jump event, Katie Maehl '19 finished in eight with a mark of 1.48m.
  • Colleen O'Neill finished the pole vault event in eight place, clearing 2.75m.


  • The Cardinals return to action Saturday, April 9 and will compete at the Amherst Spring Fling.
