MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan's Jenny Aguiar of the women's track and field team will compete in the 400m at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship as announced by the NCAA. Aguiar is seeded 16th overall in the event with a time of 56.66. During an interview as a junior last year, Aguiar said she hoped to make the cut for the NCAA Championships this year, as only the competitive field only accepts the top-22 times in each event.
During the indoor season, Aguiar made it to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career, placing sixth in the 400m with a time of 58.09. Her top-six place earned her All-American laurels for the first time in her career, an honor she had been working towards since she arrived at Wesleyan. Aguiar will look to add the same accolade to her outdoor track and field resume when she competes in her final collegiate meet this coming week. The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The preliminaries for Aguiar's event are slated to start at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23rd, with the top-eight advancing to the finals on Saturday.
